Bend and Central Oregon have been named one of the "best towns in America" in the August 2007 issue of Outside magazine. The magazine said the chosen towns, "are all smart, progressive burgs with gorgeous wilderness playgrounds and also have realistic housing and job markets." "Every place has its season - when living there makes you feel blessed," the piece by Tim Neville begins, lauding Bend as the best small town (under 100,000 residents) in the Pacific Northwest. "In Bend, one of the country's fastest-growing cities, the showcase season happens to be, well, all of them."

The July/August issue of Golf For Women magazine, a Golf Digest publication, ranks Sunriver's Meadows Course fifteenth in the country in their study of "The Top 50 Courses For Women." Sunriver also ranks in the "Top 50 Tennis Resorts in the Country" according to the September '06 issue of Tennis Magazine.
